Performance
Under the hood of the Bronco Sport are two engine options. The base engine is a turbocharged 1.5-liter 181-hp three-cylinder engine - then there's the optional turbocharged 2.0-liter 245-hp four-cylinder. Both engines also come with all-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission.
According to the EPA, the base powertrain gets an estimated 25/28 miles per gallon, while the four-cylinder dips to 21/26 miles per gallon.
Design
The Bronco Sport may be smaller than the Bronco, but its design is similar. The exterior is boxy, and the grille is squared off. Though, the similarities end when you step into the cabin. The interior boasts an attractive design, great features, and a spacious cargo area. The cargo area also has a slide-out table that doubles as a workspace, a 400-watt power inverter, and LED lights built inside the gate to provide overhead lighting.
Technology
Every Bronco Sport is outfitted with an eight-inch touchscreen and Ford's Sync 3 software. The display features Apple CarPlay/Android Auto integration, touch-sensitive controls, and voice commands. A heated steering wheel, heated front seats, and a 400-watt power inverter are also available.
Safety Features
To accompany the various tech of the Bronco Sport are numerous advanced driver-aids. Forward-collision warning with automated emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and a lane-departure warning system with lane-keeping assist are standard. So are terrain-specific driving modes and Trail Control, an off-road cruise control.
